Who will win the holiday wars?
“Ads proclaiming, “Why believe in a god? Just be good for goodness’ sake,” will appear on Washington, D.C., buses starting next week and running through December. The American Humanist Association unveiled the provocative $40,000 holiday ad campaign Tuesday.”
Merry Christmas VS. Happy Holidays.
“It’s the ultimate grinch to say there is no God at a time when millions of people around the world celebrate the birth of Christ,” said Mathew Staver, the group’s chairman and dean of the Liberty University School of Law. “Certainly, they have the right to believe what they want, but this is insulting.”
Since Christians insult the intelligence of atheists and agnostics almost on a daily basis…shouldn’t they be able to accept a little bit of insult during the holidays?
And…since Christmas is really only about the presents and has been for some time, would you say the holiday war was won by secularists long ago?
Merry Christmas excludes people. Happy Holidays INCLUDES everybody. It isn’t a war. It’s greeting everybody this Holiday season and what ever your belief, weather it’s the birth of Jesus, or the yule season or Hanukkah. Besides, shouldn’t we be allowed to say what we believe? Besides, it’s a good Chrismasy saying, ” be good for goodness sake”. How can that be bad, no matter what you believe. How is it an insult? It says nothing against Christianity.
P.S. They didn’t say there was no god, they asked a question why believe. That does not say there isn’t a god.
